Color Inspires

My mom is certified in Feng Shui. She has taught me the value of how spaces affect how we feel and reflect how we feel. Using color affects how we feel, so when choosing a color for your creative space, think about how you want to feel in that space. I interviewed my mom and here are her suggestions regarding colors and how they make us feel.

COLORS:

RED: Red is a dynamic color. It creates a feeling of the sun, warmth, and activity. Red will inspire you to get moving and take chances. Too much red though can feel stressful, so use red with caution and don't over use it. Using some white in the red paint will soften the hue to pink, which is softer and more soothing, yet still warming.

GREEN: Green is the color of tree branches and represent growth and stability. Green is very calming, like being in nature. Green will spark creativity by creating a soothing space to relax and let yourself tap into your creativity.

YELLOW: Yellow represents joy and happiness. Yellow will make us feel more optimistic. Yellow inspires us to open up and to feel more confident. Yellow also brightens up a space. Too much yellow can feel too active though and you may find yourself heading out for a walk or getting distracted from your creative project. Yellow used in moderation will create a nice, bright, inspiring space. Gold and golden tones have the same effect as yellow but add a bit more seriousness to the space.

BLACK: Black absorbs all colors and it represents depth and introspection. Black also must be used in moderation. Too much black can make the environment feel too dark, like a cave. You might find yourself wanting to sleep in a mostly black space. Black used in moderation can inspire depth and expressing deep feelings in your art or writing projects.

BLUE: Blue is the color of water and inspires calm and peacefulness. Water also inspires us to express emotions, so blue in your creative space will help you express your emotions more easily in your art or writing. Blue inspires us to feel more balanced.

PURPLE: Purple is a very inspirational color because it blends red and blue. Purple also represents spirituality. In Feng Shui, purple represents abundance. Purple will spark creativity because its both dynamic and soothing.
